It would be great to have a search option. Since i can't use the MythTV protocol since i get errors often after a few minutes i use normal filesystem without any problems. So the search in MythTV would not be enough for me. I would need a search over the filesystem, too.
(virtual keyboard needed)
i have too much recordings (>1700) to search manual for a specific recording.
thanks for the tip with the rename-utility but i have a similar tool made on my own. it creates even the folders for the shows and symlinks for linux and windows (some special chars removed).
there is no such option in mythtv but if i sit in front of my laptop i can search using a simple shellscript with sql.
i would like to enter a word and mediamvp should show me a list of files or recordings which i can select to watch.
To ease your ability to browse MythTV recordings from the file system, you might want to try the rename script, http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Mythrename.pl , which can create a symbolic link in a separate directory for each show using a friendly name format, like the show name and episode title.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by a search option? Your comment implies that such an option already exists in the MythTV interface, but I'm not aware of any feature where you can search for shows.
