when slimserver/squeezecenter is restartet (e.g. when logrotate), mclient should automatically reconnect

When you navigate to a subdirectory, and then exit to the next upper level, the directory you were just in is not selected. Instead the selection is reset to the first entry in the directory list. This makes it easy to lose track in a large directory.

MythTV 0.21 supports a protocol where the front-end can automatically discover the address of the back-end on your LAN. mvpmc should add support for this protocol to further reduce the end-user configuration burden. See: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Release_Notes_-_0.21

Numerous requests have been made to have bigger fonts in mvpmc. While the UI might need some tweaking to support larger fonts, the first step is getting a larger font created. The tools to do this are available for Microwindows. (I'll gather my research on Microwindows fonts and post them to the wiki and link to it in a future comment.)

I use ISO8859-15 for all Linux servers and desktops. It is really a nightmare to create linkslists for all mpegs, create playlists, ... in utf8.
Nice would be an option for the charset for mvpmc for the filesystem (video,music,pictures).

Some recordings can't be played at all - no problem with mythtv using a normal laptop.

The recordings are normal pal videos - no hdtv.

I want to select my music without turning on TV.
A laptop or later e.g. a N770 could be on to select the music.
If there would be a webfrontend, a solution based on VNC Server or even a simple utility with parameters which i can start on mediamvp or a upnp solution over lan (possible?) it would be really great.

I'd like to be able to switch a show from one recording group to another (existing) recording group using mvpmc. It could be placed between "Show Upcoming Episodes" and "Perform Throughput Test."

It would be great to have a search option. Since i can't use the MythTV protocol since i get errors often after a few minutes i use normal filesystem without any problems. So the search in MythTV would not be enough for me. I would need a search over the filesystem, too.

If you sort shows by category, some categories get very full and it would be nice to see show titles turned into subcategories. Add "All - Newest First" and "All - Oldest First" pseudo subcategories, just as there are at the top-level. Navigating into the subcategory would show the individual episodes in the chosen sort order.

I switch Recording Group Filter settings all the time, and it's a pain to have to keep going back to the Settings menu to switch them. It would be nice to have more direct access to them from the MythTV show browser.

When start playing a new selection or playlist there is a break after the first few seconds followed by 1 second silence. After that, the selection or playlist starts playing normally without any interuption. This is only by mclient - squeezeplay, softsqueeze, squeezeboxes are not affected.

Some shows recorded with MythTV will have no category assigned, such as ones from a manual recording schedule. In mvpmc they appear in a category with a blank name. Some sort of more user friendly placeholder name should be used.
